As part of the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bucks County (BBBSBC) makes impactful matches between adult volunteers (Bigs) and children (Littles) throughout our community.
We take great care to ensure that every child is matched to a mentor that brings out the best in them. Each match is supervised and supported by trained professionals. Our team maintains consistent contact by checking in with the mentor, the child and the guardian to ensure that the relationship is meaningful, impactful and safe for everyone involved.
Bigs establish a relationship with their Littles and help to teach them the skills necessary for everyday life. Bigs also take joy in showing their Littles a world of opportunities and endless possibilities. Just by sharing simple everyday experiences, a volunteer can make a BIG impact on a Little’s life.
Studies show that children who have a mentor are motivated to do well in school, have better relationships with family and friends, and are also less likely to skip school or use illegal drugs or alcohol.
All matches are supported by a professional staff member who helps the match navigate through situations that may arise, offers tips to help build the friendship, and gives ideas for match activities.
